V-ixion Teranyar Pakai Fairing?

Syubhan Akib - detikOto

Hotel Hippo's Top Ten Travel Tips

At HotelHippo.com, travel is our trade, and so we know how stressful planning and travelling for a trip abroad can be. To help relieve those holiday worries we've put together our top 10 travel tips, so you can make the most of your time away.

1. Make sure you have a signed, valid passport and visas, if required.

Imagine, you're at the airport, you're about to check in, and you notice your passport has expired! Your holiday is over before it's even begun. Avoid this disappointment by ensuring your passport is up to date. In most cases you'll find that your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay. If you don't have a passport, your current passport has expired or is close to expiration, we recommend applying for one now. In the UK it is recommended that you leave at least a month between applying for your passport and arranging travel - this time period may be longer in other countries. Also bear in mind that during summer months your passport office will be inundated with applications, and this may cause a backlog. Be sure to apply for your new passport in plenty of time if you wish to travel during this period.

Also consider the length and type of your trip. Many countries require that you hold a valid visa to work or take an extended stay, and you may find that you are breaking your host county's laws without one.

2. Read the Consular Information Sheets, public announcements or travel warnings for the areas you plan to visit.

Be sure to read up on the areas you plan to visit with these resources to help ensure your personal safety and make the most of your trip.

3. Familiarize yourself with local laws and customs of the countries to which you are travelling.

The last thing any of us want while enjoying our travels is to be seen as an obnoxious tourist. We all know the type, and it's not a good look. This can be easily avoided by finding out about the customs of the country you intend to visit - perhaps even learn a bit of the lingo. Some knowledge along these lines will surely be welcomed by the locals and will help you to enjoy your surroundings that little bit more. Also ensure you're aware of any differences in local law to your home country, as when you are abroad you are subject to the rules of your host country, and ignorance is rarely accepted as an excuse.

4. Make 2 copies of your passport identification page.

This will help if your passport is lost or stolen while you are away - usually a complete nightmare, but made so much easier just by following this little tip. Leave one copy at home with friends or family, and carry the other with you in a separate place to your passport. Do NOT carry it with your passport.

5. Leave contact details with friends and family so that you can be contacted in case of emergency.

Life at home doesn't stop while you're away, and you may need to be quickly contacted by friends or family should there be an emergency. Make sure they can do this by leaving your travel details (address & telephone number of your accommodation, email address & travel itinerary) with selected friends and family.

6. Do not leave your luggage unattended in public areas. Do not accept packages from strangers.

With all the security measures currently in place in public areas such as airports and train stations it is essential to ensure that you keep hold of your luggage at all times. If you're asked to hold an item for a stranger, politely decline.

7. Avoid being a target of crime. Avoid wearing conspicuous clothing and expensive jewellery, and carrying excessive amounts of money, credit cards or gadgets.

Travellers and tourists are obvious targets for foreign criminals - they usually stick out like a sore thumb and carry plenty of cash and gadgets such as digital cameras, camcorders & iPods. Reduce your chances of being a victim by dressing appropriately and only taking what you need - travellers cheques are much safer than cash, and if you wish to take any pictures or listen to music while you're out, keep your devices out of reach and out of site!

8. To avoid violating local laws, deal only with authorized agents when exchanging money or making sizable purchases.

The old adage is right - it something's too good to be true, it usually is. If you're offered an amazing exchange rate or investment opportunity from a stranger with no credentials, walk away. Even if they seem able to prove their identity or position, remain cautious, and trust your instincts - get out if you feel at all uneasy.

9. If you get into trouble, contact the nearest embassy for your country.

Your county's embassy is the place to turn if you find yourself a victim of crime or in trouble with the law. If you are a citizen of the EU and your country does not have an embassy, contact the nearest EU member embassy and request guidance from them. Many of them will provide some level of assistance in an emergency.

10. Above all, have fun!

With all the planning that is required for a successful holiday, it can be easy to get bogged down and forget to have fun and relax! With some simple preparation before you go, you can enjoy your holiday with minimum fuss while there. You deserve a break - make sure you get it!

Pubs in York

England is well known for its historical pubs, some dating back to the middle ages.
What better place to do a historic pub crawl than York?
As one of England’s most historical cities, there are plenty of pubs in York worth a visit.
Ye Olde Starre Inn at Stonegate is one of our favourite pubs in York. You can’t go any further than here for fantastic food, a great atmosphere and the time of your life. Not only that, but being the oldest pub in the city, Ye Olde Starre Inn holds real historical significance.
http://lh4.ggpht.com/thaisexygirlspics/R8RswW1GWyI/AAAAAAAAFmg/ofPtdq2NPxY/s640/Yuko%2BOgura6.jpg
The Inn dates back to around 1644 – the time of King Henry VIII’s reign – and is the subject of many ghost stories. The Battle of Marston Moor was fought near York in the English Civil War and the Inn’s cellar was used as an operating room for the wounded. It is said their screams of pain can still sometimes be heard throughout the pub. Another interesting story is that of the two cats who were apparently bricked into the pillar between the door and the bar. It is said the cats can be heard scampering through the pubs and that dogs bark and hit their heads against the pillar trying to get to the cats.

Another pub in York that is of particular interest is the Kings Arms. This is one of if not the best known of the pubs in York. As you wander inside to the warm, friendly atmosphere take a moment to look around. As you are greeted by the smiling staff and a friendly open fire (in the colder months) you will notice the pub’s inside décor of stone and wood features plaques of water heights.
The Kings Arms is best known for its capacity to flood. Being located on the banks of the River Ouse, every time the river bursts its banks the pub goes under water.
The Kings Arms is one of the pubs in York that serves up a fantastic meal. Sit inside or outside and enjoy the view of the River Ouse and have a pint or two and a bite to eat.

Finding Cheap Hotel Rates

The days of showing up at a hotel and paying whatever price is posted are over simply because it is so easy to find cheap and discounted hotel rates online. Some people still call up a hotel to make reservations and pay whatever the rate is, however people are wising up to the many cheap hotel rates to be found online and since saving money is always a motivating factor many people are shopping and booking online and as a result are receiving cheap hotel rates for the same room in the same hotel for the same dates.
http://lh6.ggpht.com/xofhmgirl/R-WsKbB7ygI/AAAAAAAABSQ/5aUJVme5D5I/s400/j_wal_magazine_bikini_big.jpg
What you may not know is there are many websites online that focus solely on providing you with discount hotels, flights, care rentals and the like. So, finding cheap hotel rates is as simple as searching online. To find cheap hotel rates you first need to get on the Internet. Once there, you should go to a search engine to search for cheap hotel rates. Be specific when using the search engine, however, because you will want to find as much specific information on cheap hotel rates as possible while weeding out other information. Keep in mind as well that if you do not find the cheap hotel rates you are looking for on one search engine you can always try another. However, you will find the best cheap hotel information on some of the larger search engines.
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_3yAkqZcSHaA/SYqkET8ajnI/AAAAAAAAH2M/VgInrztk7JA/s800/b37.jpg
Once you receive your cheap hotel results all that is left to do is start researching the websites. While many websites will have similar discount rates, some will be more expensive while others will have the lowest cheap hotel rates. This requires a little bit of research, but when it comes down to saving a lot of money and cheap hotel rates it is worth it.

Enter the hotel information or the general location where you are interested in staying, and then search for cheap hotel rates. You will be surprised at the difference if you already called to request rates from the same hotels.

Once you have found the cheap hotel rates that meet your needs, simply book online and always write down your confirmation number so you will have your cheap hotel rates.

The Truth About Youth Hostels

How youth hostels provide the magic power to surprise almost everybody. Here is the little known (yet true) story of the origin of hostels.

In August 1909 the German teacher Richard Schirrmann had been caught in a violent thunderstorm on an eight day migration with his pupils and found accommodation in a barn by a farmer.
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPfcomNAsYIv3d-_MAg4h8ySKmUo55ACPbdDuKUBmlKt59yod_KY4_nE5Yk-lMZs955Uaeuj2svpev_Xz9mAJjm7bOJbqv5U7VGcbT0yEiCRux_4J9LrH_c1HDgABMhVfegtDj1DTzLdY/s400/andi-soraya-bikini.jpg
While the pupils were sleeping, Schirrmann was laying awake the whole night.

The thought attacked him suddenly, “One would have to create places, at which move-joyful young people and pupils receive a safe and inexpensive overnight stay”.

He published this idea for the first time in 1910 in an essay about “Voksschuelerherbergen” ("elementary school pupil lodgings"),

"…also the boys and girls of the common man must practice fresh merry moving as counterweight for the room stool time of their school years... how do I imagine now appropriate and sufficient lodgings for the enormous army of the elementary school pupils?... each city and nearly each village has an elementary school, which almost waits in holidays with empty areas for it, into a sleep and a dining hall for move-merry children to be transformed. Two classrooms are sufficient, one for boys, one for girls. The banks are set partly one above the other. That gives free area for the list of 15 beds. ... each camp place consists of a tautly with straw plugged bag and cushion, 2 sheets and a blanket... each child is stopped to bring its camp place back in order finely neat... "
http://alfajriblog.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/zizi_letisha_285_reuters.jpg
After publication of this essay in the "Koelnische Zeitung” (Cologne Newspaper) numerous money and gift contributions in kind and support offers came from whole Germany.

In 1912 the first youth hostel was opened in the Altenia Castle, Germany

The first youth hostel was arranged according to Schirrmann’s plans: 2 sleeping halls with 3-storied solid wood beds, a dayroom, kitchen, wash and shower rooms. First hostel warden was Richard Schirrmann. He lived directly above the hostel rooms. In the same year Schirrmann also published the first hostel listing with approximately 140 addresses.

In many of these lodgings however were not even basics of accommodations, e.g. for girls were nothing at all.

In 1913 were already 301 youth hostels in cities and villages. One year later one counted already 535.

In 1920 the first expenditure of the "youth hostel" magazine appeared, and with approximately 700 addresses the first manual with addresses by youth hostels were published.

From 1924-1929 with the first lottery in favour to the youth hostels 1.5 million realm Marks were gained. In 1932 had already been 2,123 youth hostels in Germany. More than 4.5 million overnight stays took place. But at the end of the twenties in further countries, like Poland, Holland, France, England, and Switzerland, more than 600 youth hostels were already opened.

On October 20th, 1932 in Amsterdam in presence by land agencies from Switzerland, Czechoslovakia, Poland, the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Great Britain, Ireland, France, and Belgium, the International Youth Hostel Federation (IYHF) was created.

The federation has its seat today in Welwyn Garden City near London. Richard Schirrmann was selected as the president. Conference language was German.

On the following conference in 1933 also Isabel and Monroe Smith from the USA participated. Within one year they could open thirty youth hostels in the United States. Also in 1933 the national socialists arrived in Germany at power.

All political and religious youth combinations were dissolved and replaced by a system of obligatorily university-formed youth organization, under the line of the "realm youth guidance". Richard Schirrmann must withdraw as a chairman of the German youth hostel factory.

He let himself impress by the idealistic elements of the new movement and became honorary president of the realm federation for German youth hostels. A decision which he should bitterly repent later.

In 1936 for political reasons it had come to the break with the international youth hostel federation. In 1947 after the end of the world war, 247 youth hostels with 1,158,500 overnight stays were counted again in Germany.

From 1949-1990 also in the GDR were an extensive network of youth hostels developed. Initially still led as federations, these later had become to state led institutions of the youth. The existing federations were dissolved. In 1960 were the most youth hostels in the Federal Republic. More than 720 houses realized 11,300,312 overnight stays.

In 1990 after the end of the GDR also in the new Lands of the Federal Republic youth hostel federations were created. In November these federations joined the German youth hostel association.

Youth hostels today

World-wide there are more than 4,000 youth hostels in 65 countries, whereby more than 600 alone in Germany.

The youth hostels in Germany offer to their guests far more than an inexpensive overnight stay. Beside small cosy old buildings or the experience in castles and residences you also find many houses in scenic delightful environments as well as in large cities. For more details go to http://www.smart-travel-germany.com/hostels-germany.html .

This true story was published in German language by the German Youth Hostel Association, and translated by Marcus Hochstadt.

Ayam Kampus Dan Fenomena-nya

Spring Cleaning: Comments, offline, and older browser support

Monday, May 24, 2010 by Mihai Parparita

Springtime is a great opportunity to clean up, take care of loose ends, and generally spruce things up. Since we still have a few weeks of spring left, the Reader team is taking this opportunity to clean things up a bit.
Simplifying comments
Ever since we launched support for comments on shared items, one of the most frequent points of confusion has been "who can comment on my shared items?" (or rather, "why can't I comment on my friends' shared items?"). Up until now, someone had to be in a designated sharing group to be able to comment on a post, even if you were sharing publicly. To make things a lot simpler, we've made it so that if you can see a shared item, you can comment on it.
For those of you who are sharing publicly, the next time you log in to Reader you'll get a choice between continuing to share publicly and allowing anyone to comment on your shared items, or switching to protected sharing:
Comments dialog
Nothing will change for users who already had their shared items protected, since visibility and commenting for their shared items was already consistent. Keep in mind that you can always update who can view and comment on your shared items on the sharing settings page.
Phasing out support for older browsers
Reader is joining Docs (and many other sites) in removing support for older browsers, notably Internet Explorer 6, Firefox 1.0 and 2.0, Safari 2.0 and 3.0, and Chrome 1.0, 2.0. and 3.0. Reader is a cutting edge web application, and this will allow us to spend our time improving Reader instead of fixing issues with antiquated browsers. Starting on June 1, users of older browsers will begin to see a notification encouraging them to upgrade to any of Reader’s supported browsers.
Discontinuing offline access via Gears
We launched offline support three years ago, but only a minority of Reader users actively use it today. Because supporting offline access requires a large ongoing engineering effort, and because Gears itself is being surpassed by HTML5, we've decided to remove offline support in Reader starting on June 1.
Of course, we know that offline access is important to some of you, and with the wide range of third party clients that sync with Google Reader, you don’t need to give it up. Depending on your operating system, we recommend taking a look at:
Each of these alternatives will sync your subscriptions and read state with Reader, and continue to provide offline access to your feeds. For more information, please see our help center.
We realize that removing features and support is not easy, but with this spring cleaning done, we've laid the groundwork for more Reader improvements down the line. We apologize for any inconvenience, and if you have any questions please head over to our forum, or message us on Twitter.

Folder and tag renaming

Tuesday, June 01, 2010 by Brian Shih

Post by Wiktor Gworek, 20% task force (Krakow, Poland)
Last year we announced that we wanted to hear your wish list for features in Google Reader, and one of most highly requested features was the ability to rename folders and tags. Today we are rolling out this feature with a little bit of Polish help from Krakow.
You can rename folders and tags on the settings page:
Renaming on the settings page
And you can also edit these names right from the contextual menu in your subscription list.
Renaming from contextual menu
Also, as we announced last week, today we’ve disabled offline access through Gears, and phased out support for older browsers.
As always, if you have any questions or comments, please head over to our help forums, or send us a message on Twitter.

Fullscreen and more!

Thursday, August 26, 2010 by Arif Siddiquee

As Google Reader is all about reading, we thought we should give our users a chance to maximize their screen space whenever possible... thus fullscreen mode was born. You can toggle the fullscreen mode through the 'f' key. Additionally, you can use 'shift + u' to show and hide the navigation panel so you can easily change what you're reading without leaving fullscreen mode.

Eagle-eyed viewers might have also noticed we've added a new category to the trends page: clicked trends - now you can see which sources you click on the most.
And finally, something many of you have asked for before...we now show you your lifetime read item count. That's right. Every. Single.* Item.**

*Only things you've scrolled by, or clicked on - doesn't count mark all as read.
**Okay, that's not quite accurate - once you hit around 300K (which we know some of you are already over) we stop counting for performance reasons. Consider that "beating the game".
